Lighting Management

Virticus can support companies interested in outsourcing the management of their outdoor lighting network by letting the customer define the goal, and creating and implementing the lighting policies for them. We do this with full transparency to actual maintenance costs and energy consumption incurred as a result of lighting policy decisions.

The first step of creating a lighting policy is to define a goal, such as "reduce energy use by streetlights by 40%."

Translating that goal into a set of actions that will enable you to achieve the goal requires a thorough analysis of existing and required equipment as well as lighting needs throughout the system. A single goal may translate into hundreds of rules and exceptions, all of which can be supported by our suite of products.

Creating a lighting policy is key to taking control of your lighting. A lighting policy is implemented at all levels of the system. For example, controllers may include motion sensors, so that lamps that would otherwise be off will go on if someone is moving in the area. Lighting needs for a particular site or neighborhood require control at the site manager level. The enterprise view supports implementation of citywide or corporate policies, such as operating within a given budget.

Virticus offers Lighting Management services for customers recognize the need to control costs and improve service levels, but who prefer to outsource the determining and implementing detailed policies and maintenance of equipment.
